Joel brings over 20 years of experience from the hospitality industry.
Joel has worked at every position within restaurants and has over 12 years in senior management positions. Joel spent over 8 years with the S.I.R. Corp. chain that operates brands such as Jack Astor’s, Canyon Creek, Alice Fazooli’s and the Signature Group of restaurants. Joel also spent over a decade with the Shoeless Joe’s brand with most of his years as the Chief Operating Officer and helped them grow from a 10 unit operation to almost 40 locations while doubling per unit sales. Joel has extensive experience in Operations, Marketing, Purchasing, Culinary, Franchising and People Development.
Along with being the President of Crush Strategy Inc., Joel is currently a partner in Guest Engine which is a marketing company that specializes in mobile marketing and social media for the hospitality industry. Joel has a marketing diploma from Sheridan College as well as a marketing degree from Northwood University in Michigan. Joel’s broad knowledge of the hospitality industry has led to his contribution in several industry articles as well as serving on various industry panels and advisory boards.
Shawn brings over 20 years of experience from the hospitality industry.
Shawn began his career with the McDonald’s. He later moved to Kelsey’s International brands where he spent over 10 years gaining experience in all areas of a restaurant, including Food and Beverage Management, Operations and Marketing. Shawn has over 10 years of Senior Management experience at various brands including Pizza Pizza, Turtle Jack’s and Shoeless Joe’s, giving him exposure to both franchise and corporate environments. Shawn left his role as Director of Operations to start Crush Strategies with Joel Sisson.
Shawn’s strengths include Restaurant Profitability, Operations, Franchising, Culinary, Marketing, Training, Store Openings, Event Planning and People Development. Shawn has been successful in making multiple brands more efficient and profitable, through his knowledge and hands on approach to development.
Scott brings over 25 years of experience from the hospitality industry.
Scott has covered every position in the back of house and spent the last 12 years in senior positions. Scott was the Corporate Chef for Shoeless Joe’s restaurants for over 5 years where he completely revamped the culinary program and increased food sales by over 25%. Prior to that, Scott was the Executive Chef for the Charcoal group which operates the Charcoal Steakhouse, Del Dante’s and Martinis. Scott was also Executive Chef at Wayne Gretzky’s where he not only managed the high volume restaurant but ran many special event functions featuring some of the country’s best known celebrities.
Scott is a hands on, system driven, creative individual who spent significant time in various restaurant and hotel kitchens after graduating from George Brown Culinary Arts Institute in the early 90’s. Scott is driven to ensure food quality, execution, creativity and profitability go hand in hand to achieve long term success.
Chris Foulon is a founding partner of ISRAEL FOULON LLP – EMPLOYMENT & LABOUR LAWYERS.
Chris represents clients in a wide range of employment and labour matters including: Wrongful Dismissals, Injunctions, Employment Standards Hearings, disputes before the Ministry of Labour, Workplace Safety matters, Occupational Health and Safety charges and Human Rights Complaints. Chris also advises employers with respect to union organization drives and responding to applications for certification, union grievances and negotiating collective agreements. Chris employs a proactive approach in dealing with employment and labour issues. He assists employers in instituting policies, practices and procedures which increase productivity and reduce workplace conflict.
Chris is a former instructor of the course “The Legal Environment for Human Resource Managers” at Seneca College. Chris has also been a guest instructor of the “Lawyer as Negotiator” course at Osgoode Hall Law School. He is the former Editor of the Carswell publication, “Canadian Employment Law Today”. He is a regular speaker at conferences put on by the Law Society of Upper Canada and other organizations.
Chris has been involved in the hospitality business for many years. His early jobs were in the restaurant industry where he developed a thorough understanding of restaurant operations and management and as well as the challenges that restaurant owners face. He continues his close relationship with the hospitality industry today through his representation of senior executives and hospitality companies.
